Tips on Finding a Good Book
Read book reviews online
Take a look at some of the latest book reviews and excerpts and find yourself on the path to reading. Just search for “book reviews” in your favorite browser and shop around!
Network with Friends, talk about books
Talk with friends, they may be reading your next favorite novel. If you have friends or co workers that are avid readers, don’t be shy. Friends are a great resource for new books and offer firsthand knowledge of what kind of book it is and who it reminds them of most..
Search for Online Book Stores
Online book blogs are another way to find your next book. They offer non biased information about various books, because they have no relationship with the publisher or author (in most cases). Just search for "Book Blogs" and review various blogs for a book, but be sure to see what various blogs are saying about a book before purchasing, just to be sure you have a well rounded point of view.
"A novel must give a sense of permanence as well as a sense of life." E. M. Forster
Online Bookstore Bestseller Lists
Paruse thru online bookstore bestseller lists, face it, online books stores have their own personal best selling lists. They offer reviews and make suggested reading lists based on what other people have purchased already read. Kind of looking thru someone else's personal collection.
Local library, Genre Sections
Take a stroll into your local library and just look around in your favorite genre section. Local Libraries and Librarians are a great resource when searching for a new book. Libraries are categorized by genre, so you can just walk into the library and look at the fiction horror section for a new book, if that’s your favorite genre. Librarians also offer up valuable firsthand knowledge about recent and classic releases, so don’t be afraid to ask them for advice about specific books, authors, and recommended reading.
Book Clubs - Social Reading Groups
Joining a local book club is a wonderful way to interact with others who are all reading the same piece of literature. They offer a social forum for open discussion about a book and even if the book isn't the greatest, something about being able to talk about it with friends makes it a great experience.
In summary, there are alot of resources available to explore and maybe discover new genres or authors. Hope this has been helpful and you discover additional resources in finding that next great novel or book to read... Happy reading!
